I received a new student recently that doesn't speak a lot of English. He got thrown in at the end of the quarter while a bunch of changes were commencing. I didn't really get a chance to know him. I had a student help translate the instructions, and I translated all the work on the computer; like a normally teacher. Then today an App on my phone changed everything.
My students were able to outside today for a reward, because they score above an 80% on their class avg of their test earlier this week. While we were outside, I re-downloaded my "Google Translator" APP and we had an awesome convo about where he's from, why he moved here, and his interests. It was amazing! I felt sooooo accomplished.
