Pumpkin recycle

The letter kind of explains it all:

Dear Parents,
Each year every classroom is given a lovely Pumpkin to decorate for our schools Fall Festival. This year we wanted to make ours useful. We made an environmentally friendly pumpkin by reusing the seeds that we dug out to make MORE pumpkins. We read the book “The Tiny Seed,” by Eric Carle and went over the planting process. We then went out to the schools Shade House and planted our seeds. Each student got a hand in the planting process of his or her very own seed. It was a fun and very messy experience. Our pumpkins are beginning to outgrow their homes that we have given them. Attached are some helpful hints on taking care of a pumpkin. I hope that this wonderful pumpkin can find a place in your home. Our students and teachers have given them lots of tender love and care at school and we hope that with your support your student can continue to care for them at home too.
Sincerely,
